Forbes had a different perspective on this, which I found more plausible. It's not that people are stupid, it's that a borderline fraud technique was used by investors to raise the price, only so they can sell the inflated stock at a huge profit. It's possible that someone simply bought enough stock to raise this company's profile, and that attracted the attention of other traders, who bought more, and raised the profile of the stock more.
